Welcome
WSMS Calendar of Events
Dear Parent/Guardian:
As you probably realize, your middle school child is gaining knowledge that can be applied outside of the classroom. To help expand that knowledge, take the things your child learns in school and reinforce them at home. Here are some ideas.
ü Sharpen her math skills. It is tax time, so enlist your middle schooler’s help with the crunching of numbers for your tax return. Don’t make it too complicated, but let her experience what it feels like to apply math to a real life situation.
ü Get him to lend a hand. If you are building or repairing something around the house, have your middle schooler pitch in.
ü Encourage her to use logic. Discuss current events and issues. Ask your preteen for their viewpoints.
ü Ask for your middle schooler to tell you about the book or novel they are reading in school. By simply describing it they will be sharpening their communication skills.
As always, spending time with our children is a terrific way to keep in touch with their development as they get older. I would like to thank all parents and guardians for their continued support of our fine school as we head into spring.
Sincerely,
